Music & The Movement

We are in the final week before the election, and for many of us, that means more time spent out on the ground and at community events. One way to stay motivated is to listen to music. Something that we have noticed and prompted this blog is that at many events and rallies, you tend to hear the same songs and genre of music being played. Across battleground states, in the days after the election there will be days-long Count Every Vote actions, so we wanted to create something that could be used for those post election events, too. I asked members of our team to send me some of their favorite songs to hear at actions and combined them into a playlist! This is a living playlist that will continue to grow, and I want you all to contribute too! We have attached both the Spotify and Apple Music playlist along with a form for any songs you think should live on this. I am hoping to create more for different times of the year and events.

If you are curious about some of the songs here is a highlight of 5 of our favorites:

  1. A Change is Gonna Come Tina Turner
  2. Freedom Beyonce ft Kendrick Lamar
  3. Take the Power Back Rage Against the Machine
  4. Hind’s Hall Macklemore
  5. Where is the Love? Black Eyed Peas

For those who want to make recommendations, please submit here! We are wishing everyone good luck both during the election and post election. If you use our playlist at any action or rally, we would love to see your videos and photos tag us on socials or send it over!
